Nick and I are just sitting here at the Vegas airport for about 40 more minutes, so here's a quick update:
- Nick's shoulder is doing really well. He has full range of motion and hardly any pain, but he was very much instructed to take it easy with no heavy lifting for about a week to 10 days, and to do his rehab exercises.
- I haven't had any time to upload pictures, but I assure you that they will be posted within a day or 2.
- Wendy's hamburgers are yum!
- The free Wi-Fi at the Vegas airport is wonderful! I did see a sign that said it was a gift from google till January 15.
- Visiting Cleveland and Nick's fam was awesome!
So on our flight that we just got off of, which was Southwest... The fight attendants were comedians. So funny! The one guy would talk like he was on an echoing microphone doing announcements and then he put the sample seat belt strap around his head, the life vest on and the air mask on top of his head and walked around. Out flight was 4 hours and 50 minutes and he kept saying that it was a shot 45 min flight. Funny guy.

B&W
I am guessing that you have seen the black and white speedskating photos.
For a long time I have been thinking about posting b&w skating pictures because I have always thought they looked so cool. I haven't ever posted them because I thought people wouldn't like it. Well, I just decided to to just do it. I have got back a lot of positive feedback and I am very glad for that.
When I see skaters training and racing, I see this deep intensity of focus and want in their lives. The black and white pictures bring that feeling out more. It makes you to imagine the colors of the photo and the life of the subject.

For Halloween
We had kids knocking on our door at 3 in the afternoon. What is this world coming to??? You are supposed to wait till is gets dark... Around 5 we put a sign on the door that said "Sorry no candy here. Brush your teeth." We could hear all the kids coming up to the door and moaning and groaning after reading it. It was a bit funny.
Nick and I decided to go to Five Guys for a burger and fries. So good. Then we went to Applebee's for dessert. I got this chocolate thing... I believe it was a Chocolate Mousse shooter. It had chocolate crumb stuff in the bottom with chocolate pudding stuff, whip cream and oreos. It was amazingly good.

Alpine Loop De Loop

This afternoon Nick and I hit the road in search of some fall colors. We drove down the way and ended up taking the Highland Alpine exit. I got to revisit my roots from about 2 years ago when climbing up to the Mt. Timpanogos caves. The trail is actually closed, but I got to see it.
We ran into the Alpine Loop. That stretch of road is so fun. It's narrow and has a ton of ups, downs and curvy curves. The scenery changes every few miles. You run into the Mt. Timpanogos trail head, which is insane to climb, takes like 9 hours one way. You also go by Robert Redford's house, Sundance Ski Resort and lots of camping areas.
We ended up turning off that road and heading to Heber and Park City. On the way there, I saw a truck with the words "Pine Nuts" and had Nick pull over. There was a little old man selling the best snack in the world... pine nuts! So, for the first time in the history of my life, I bought some.
When I lived in Panaca, we would go pine nut picking in the fall out in the mountains. It's just what we do. We'd get pounds and pounds of these nuts and sitting down next to the fire with your pine nuts and some hot chocolate or eggnog was just wonderful.
The nuts were $10 and $20. I got a $10 bag which equaled about 2 or 2.5 cups of nuts. They are like gold! Expensive. Once we got home, I cooked them and mmmmmm enjoyed. Nick had never had them before, so he got to experience the goodness for himself.
It was such a nice, fun, relaxing, enjoyable day.
I posted the photos on facebook, so check them out here.

New blog decor
The white with the red/orange... background wasn't working for me anymore. I stopped looking at my blog cause it was just blah. I like this blue with a bit of WHEW! on the side.
Day 8, feelin great!
My left hamstring is as sore as could be! I have tried stretching and foam rolling and I can't get any relief. I bet it was those P90 kicks. Today is day 8 by the way! And I still love it. I had a dream that I had really muscular thighs and upon waking up thought it was true. It was false, today, but will be true one day.
